Todays parents are busy, really busy. They hardly have the time to get in touch with teachers to get some insight into what their kids are doing in school. But with the advent of technologies, nothing is impossible as such. Something as smart as webinars can be used to create a communication between teachers and these ever-busy parents of students. Before we move forward, we need to know more about what exactly a webinar is. It is nothing but a virtual seminar that is being conducted by someone at some place and which is being attended by any number of people from any part of the world. A webinar may include a bunch of documents or any PowerPoint presentation which can be attended by people over their computers and might also include audio clips. Webinars has immense interactive qualities as it allows both ways communication between the presenter and the audience.
Webinar as a communication tool for parent-teacher
While teachers are equally busy with loads of paper-works for school, but taking some time out in-between to conduct the webinar will generate proper communication with the parents of wards. A webinar can be used to communicate with parents to clear certain areas of doubt like
- A teacher can use the webinar to deliver to parents what they can expect the students to learn throughout the year and what should their class work consists of.
- Webinars are prepared one-time that can be reviewed again and again at one’s time of convenience.
- There might be optional webinars as a part of follow-up program to know more about the actual work that is being done at class as well as sent home with students as homework.
- Teachers can easily prepare sheets of information for parents in advance to save more time in discussing about the general curriculum of the student in detail.
For parents who are both working, catching up with their children’s teachers at school is a tough job. Here, webinar can play a big role in easing the process of communication. Teachers and parents meeting for those typical fifteen minutes discussions go in vain most of the time with no valuable information being shared. Besides, schools don’t allot much time for this teacher-parent meet-up and hence, the meetings are generally useless. This is when webinars can save the time and stir up an effective communication between teachers and parents.
